Automotive production in China is advancing rapidly

During January and February this year, as the Chinese economy grew steadily, car usage increased in small and medium-sized towns, districts and rural areas. 

 

The driving force behind the growth in car sales came mainly from the energy-efficient vehicles sector, thanks to which they exceeded the values when compared to the same period in 2019. Especially indicators of production and sales of new vehicles and recycling of old vehicles. As part of this, the cumulative volume of production and sales of new vehicles exceeded the level of the same period in 2019 by almost 3%. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), new vehicle production and sales reached 1.503 million and 1.455 million, respectively, in February, with cumulative production and sales reaching 3.89 million and 3.958 million, respectively, from January to February 2019. When compared to with 2019 this means an increase of 2.9% and 2.7%. 

 

Production and sales of new energy-efficient vehicles reached a level of 317 thousand and 289 thousand, respectively, in February. Compared to the same period of 2019, when cumulative production of energy-efficient vehicles reached a level 124 thousand and sales 110 thousand, this means an increase in production by 110% and in sales by 96.1%. 

 

Looking at the cumulative volume of exports, it exceeded the volume of same period in 2019 by more than 86%. According to the preliminary statistics of the customs administration, the cumulative import of cars in the period from the beginning of January to the end of February was at the level of 160 thousand, which represents an increase of 3.9% compared to the same period of 2019. The increase in cumulative exports reached 86.1% and in February it reached a level of 281 thousand vehicles. 

 

As is the case with other indicators, the cumulative volume of trade with used vehicles grew, exceeding the level of the same period in 2019 by almost 20%. According to the China Automobile Dealers Association (CADA), the number of used vehicle transactions in February was 955 thousand and the cumulative volume of transactions during January and February was 2.387 million, an increase of 19.1% over the same period in 2019. 

 

If you are interested in the volume of motor vehicle recycling after its service life, it has exceeded its cumulative volume from the same period in 2019 by almost 15%. According to the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, the cumulative recycling of vehicles after their service life reached 311,000 from January to February, an increase of 14.7% over the same period in 2019.
